light's, camera, ACTION!
On day 2, Mom and Dad thought they were going to be taking me home as everything looked good. When the lab results came back late in the evening with numbers of 10.4 we found out that this wasn't going to happen as planned. Jaundice is pretty common with new borns and can often be resolved quickly, but often requires an overnight in the hospital under the phototherapy lights while sleeping on a billing light. In short, I was glowing green from the bottom, blue from the top, and made to wear uncomfortable, still slightly fashionable goggles which acted to protect my eyes from blindness. My young reflexes coupled with my extraordinary arm strength (not to mention my convincingly shrill cry) left Dad with total fear for my blindness and resulted in his absolute lack of sleep. For Mom, well she just couldn't take my cry. She loves me so much! Actually, they both do, so much! As for this whole phototherapy experience, all I could do is throw my hands in the air and shout "this is wack!"
